At Delightful Sense, we believe every person deserves the chance to pursue their hopes, dreams, and future with confidence. For many individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), those dreams can feel out of reach. It’s not because people with IDD lack ability, but because our systems, communities, and opportunities are not built with them in mind. Too often, the supports, understanding, and pathways needed for people with IDD to thrive simply aren’t there.

We want to change that -- one candle at a time.

Our son, Dayton, has Down syndrome. As we look ahead to his future, we see a gap that shouldn’t exist: talented, capable individuals who are eager to contribute but haven’t been given a place to shine.

Delightful Sense was created to help fill that gap. Not just for Dayton, but for every person who deserves meaningful, joyful, dignified work.

Our long‑term vision is to employ individuals with IDD across every part of our candle‑making process. From selecting scents and placing labels to packaging, inventory tracking, and sales, each step offers a chance for someone to use their strengths, build confidence, and experience purposeful work. We’re just beginning, but our commitment is clear: Delightful Sense will become a place where people of all abilities can shine.

Our brand is rooted in the idea that every person experiences the world through their own delightful sense — scent, sound, texture, color, and taste. Our candles are crafted to evoke those moments: a feeling, a memory, an environment that brings balance and joy.

Our candles are more than products. They are opportunities. They are community. They are a reminder that every person has a delightful sense to share and a future worth investing in.
